During 2020 lockdown, Maia grew a mini corn field in her back garden in South East London. With an ongoing fascination for ancient grains and seeds, specifically those from South and Central America where her own ancestral connection lies, tending the soil and planting these seeds was a way of feeling connected to a land and to a people. She was also motivated by the history of indigenous cultivation that has been slowly eradicated with the widespread increase of mono-cultured agriculture, to evolve this project into what felt like a living archive. This project was featured in Free To Forage Magazine.
